Three-dimensional vortex shedding was quantified in one instantaneous capture from the unique 3D camera in a volume 90 x 90 x 140 mm at Reynolds number 2200. Hairpin-like vortices formed downstream of the sphere and were shed alternately along opposite sides of a plane of symmetry.
